It's Confirmed a Herniated Disc on L5/S1

After 6 months, my lower back is still giving me problem. Based on my read ups, I suspected myself that I'm having herniated disc and sciatica, which I really hope it's not.

But my MRI scan this morning confirmed it's herniated disc on L5 and S1.

First thing that came to my mind, Shit!
Am I going to perform Kama Sutra roll on the mat again? weights lifting? Running? 101 questions starts flowing into my mind.

Doctor told me for now( and I wonder how long would be the now), no jumping, running and whatever is mentioned earlier. My only exercise would be swimming and cycling.

Next appointment in 2 weeks time, meanwhile, will be on Mecobalamin, Arcoxia(etoricoxib) and Norgesic. I welcome any suggestions from people in regards to this issue.

WTF ler . . . . . Just when i thought I found things I like to do to replace basketball and taekwondo.

Hi Sister,

Thanks for dropping by and leaving a comment. When I went to your blog and saw Shanyang's photo, immediately I knew who you are.

and your flickr confirmed it when I saw bro wai leong's photo stating that he's ur hubby.

I'll take note on your recommendation on yoga, which I've stopped for quite sometime.

Based on my limited knowledge, nothing much can be done on slipped disc, which concerns me alot as it will stop me from my favourite activities.

I'll just go with the flow for now.

Hope to see you and family soon. :D

Jason, pleased to have stumbled on your blog, while surfing ard Nalanda's site. Sorry to know about ur slip disc--- perhaps it's signal that u need a bit of rest. You will know that the 1st aim of Martial Arts & Sports is preservation of good health. So, it's no good if one pushes too hard & gets injured, even when not being attacked / threatened.

Be that as it may, near the Maluri Chiropractor Clinic which u've been before is a VERY good Sifu, whom i've known for 7 years or so. He's exceptional in his Tui Na & Acupunture skills. On such traditional arts, I only trust 2 persons. One in Taiping, the other one is this Sifu in Maluri. Both are accomplished martial artist...who now, in their mature years believe more in healing & helping rather than hurting & winning.

I'll be happy to introduce you to the Sifu for a chat / consultation.
It may be good to get another opinio...if it's sth he can treat, he will do it & if he can't help, he'll tell you so.

Also, he charges minimally btw (RM25 - RM50) and there's always the bonus of discussing dhamma with him during treatment!

Hi pk,

Thanks for dropping by and leaving a comment.

I've came across a few TCM clinics around that area when I was having my chiropractic treatment.

It would be nice if you could provide me the details of the physician that you are talking about, or you wanna bring me there or something?

Infact after I completed my chiropractic treatment with Dr Moira ( I did not continue the maintenance phase ), I went to 2 TCM, one is Yeechou(www.yeechou.com) at taman megah ( Dr Wei Bin ), and one more is a physician with the selangor basketball team(Mr Yap)

Acupuncture do help, but just temporary. Mr Yap's treatment with acupuncture did help to make the pain go away, but no longer than 15 minutes after the needles are removed, the pain is back.

Similarly, massage also offers me temporary relieve.

But at this stage, I would like to have more opinions based on recommendations from people.

Thank you in advance and I hope to hear from you soon.

Will be happy to bring you there. I'll be seeing the Sifu next on Wed Feb 20th at 1.30 or so(as a friend is going there for treatment).
Perhaps you can come along around that time, where you can brief him & let him make a preliminary assessment.

Afraid he hasn't got a website.
He was my 1st Yoga instructor and as more ppl came to him for treatment, he eventually stopped yoga class & went into full time healing. He operates from his home (which is in a 2nd floor shophouse). No employees and he does treatment himself and will limit the no. of ppl he sees in a day.

He already knew tui-na from his own family and went to Xiamen University subsequently to complete formal certification on TCM in herbs & acupuncture.

He's also a certified Counsellor and often treats both the mind & the body of his patients at the same time.

I'll leave the details of his counselling technique, his interesting b'ground on self-defence until you meet him.

His name is Chan Eng Huat, popularly known as Misai (as he has a goatie). I address him as Chen Lao Si . His centre is called Huai Chun (returning to Spring).

You can email me directly at ywl2020@gmail.com for more expedient communication.

Cheers,
Wai Leong

Its okay Ken :)

I'm starting to accept it.
Just being flexible and accepting things :)

I believe it will heal somehow ^_^

do you lift weights? because a herniated disc is usually caused by improper forms during weightlifting, especially whe executing deadlifts and squats.

Jason Lee Kang Xian said...

@thomasting,

Yeap, I love weights training and never had problem with it before. My form are always monitored.

But shit part is I got my slipped disc from a non-sport activity. Improper posture when lifting someone in college( some activities ).
